The bottom end is built upon the base. It holds the columns that support the head and crosshead guides.
The base also locates the main bearings.

When making the bottom end I discovered an error on the drawing.
The small end of the column should be .188 diameter and .156 long.
I have updated the drawing and the error area is circled.
